This month, media tycoon Rupert Murdoch and wife Jerry Hall purchased a massive ranch in Beaverhead County, Montana. The 340,000-acre property was sold by the Koch family, according to The Wall Street Journal, and changed hands for at least $200 million.
Beaverhead Ranch, as it is known, is located near Yellowstone National Park. It was owned and sold by Koch subsidiary Matador Cattle Company. A working ranch, it contains 25 houses; currently, there are 15 working families living on the property. There are 7,000 cow/calf pairs, as well as wildlife populations that include elk and antelope.
